Abstract:

The hydrocyclone has a very important roll in industrial separation. The consideration of its behavior is very important for design. In this investigation, behavior of water flow and particles trajectory inside a hydrocyclone has been considered by means of numerical and experimental methods, and results have been compared together. To have a numerical simulation, a CFD software was used, and for modeling flow the RNG k – model applied. Finally, the effect of particle size on hydrocyclone performance has been studied. It was found that the grade efficiency and number of particle that exit from underflow of the hydrocyclone is increased when bigger particles is used. A series of experiments has been carried out in a laboratory with a hydrocyclone. Comparison shows that, there is a good agreement between the CFD models and experimental result.

Interactional effects of bubble size, particle size, and collector dosage on bubble loading in column flotation

The success of flotation operation depends upon the thriving interactions of chemical and physical variables. In this work, the effects of particle size, bubble size, and collector dosage on the bubble loading in a continuous flotation column were investigated. In other words, this work was mainly concerned with the evaluation of the true flotation response to the changes in the operating varia...

Effects of Starter Diet Feed Particle and Crumble Size on Performance, Carcass Characteristics and Small Intestinal Histomorphology in Broiler Chicks

This study was conducted to assess the effects of feed particle size (FPZ) and crumble size (CZ) of starter diet on growth performance parameters, carcass characteristics, and small intestinal histomorphology in broiler chicks. Three hundred and sixty male Ross 308 chicks were randomly distributed in a completely randomized design with 3 ´ 2 factorial arrangement consist of three screened FPZs ...

Particle Size Effects on Wulff Constructions

The equilibrium structure of small particles is analysed by minimising the total surface energy of atomistic clusters. Large deviations from the bulk Wulff construction are identified for fairly large ( 10 nm) particles due to sphere packing corrections. These act as additional edge terms which can be si~i~cantly larger than the true edge terms. For a simplifi~ fee model, it is shown that the f...

Particle size effects on collapse in monolayers.

We report on the impact of differently sized particles on the collapse of a Langmuir monolayer. We use an SDS-DODAB monolayer because it is known to collapse reversibly under compression and expansion cycles. Particles with diameters of 1 μm, 0.5 μm, 0.1 μm, and 20 nm are deposited on the SDS-DODAB monolayer. We find a critical particle size range of 0.1 to 0.5 μm that produces a transition fro...
